Welcombe Hills Vineyard
We’re lucky to work with clients we love, on things we love - like wine for instance. Welcombe Hills Vineyard is an independently-owned, family-run vineyard located in the rolling hills that overlook Stratford-Upon-Avon in rural Warwickshire, UK. The land itself was once owned by the Shakespeare family, and its rocky clay terroir makes it the perfect place to create fabulous English wines.
Working with the founders, we set about creating a brand that not only reflected the history of the location and product, but also the quality of the finished wine. But there was something else that we wanted to bottle up too: the mindset and attitude of the people that grow and produce the wine that makes it so special and different to others. We positioned the brand as ‘Easy-going English wine’, based on a founding belief that fine wine should be accessible to connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike. This set the tone for the brand, reflecting the utterly drinkable wines they were able to create. From this the identity was born, starting with a flowing icon emblematic of the heraldry of the area but also the abstract shapes of the vines themselves. The brand has been rolled out online, at the vineyard and its on-site kitchen, and on labels where each grape variety nods to a rich historical and literary landscape. In the words of Shakespeare, ‘enjoy thyself and drinketh responsibly’.
