Taylors are a family-run fish and chip shop in the North West with a difference. Not only have they been serving award-winning fish and chips of the highest quality for more than 60 years, they’ve also been looking after their community. The stories are countless, having featured in the national news for the good work they do and gaining an OBE in the process, but at the heart of everything is an entrepreneurial spirit to try new things and always (without fail) give back. They’ve even used their business to build a successful social enterprise called Starting Point, now doing work across the UK. This inspired us and we wanted to use our skills to give something back to them: a brand they could be proud of. Something that reflected their heritage and history but also their fresh-thinking ethos and determination to give anything a go. We took the team at Taylors through the same process as any other client looking to overhaul their brand, undertaking a full workshop, gaining insights and inputs from all areas of the business, before working on the foundations for the brand. We wanted to go further than just a new logo. We wanted to offer them a new perspective on everything: customer experience, how to order, the restaurant interior design, menus, signage, website, comms – even the uniform. All inspired by a new brand promise, ‘Make It Fresh’, every touchpoint has been refreshed. But more importantly than that, Anne, Bob and the whole team at Taylors can now look at their business – and how to grow it – with fresh eyes. With the restaurant re-fit underway, the business is already going from strength to strength. The team are enthused, the future looks bright (orange) and they have a belly-full of ideas to go at.
